Spring Woods United Methodist Church has been and continues to be an example of the compassion Christ exhibited during his short time on earth. There are over 2,000 verses in the Bible telling us we are to help the poor or those less fortune.  Ten times in the New testament Jesus was "moved by compassion" and he spent over 1/3 of his ministry assisting the poor and caring for the sick. Giving blood is the ultimate act of selflessness and compassion for our fellow man. Each donation saves up to 3 lives, and cancer patients use the most blood.  Please continue to give blood if you do and give serious  thought and prayer to the idea of donating the next time you can, if you have never done so before. For more information please contact Gilda Hart at ghart@consolidated.nets

New Military Ministry:
Spring Woods United Methodist Church and Military Ministries is providing support and services to veterans and their families.  Military Ministries understands that life is very stressful in today’s military environment.  Our prayer is that this church will show a heart of compassion to our nation’s military and become a “Bridge to Healing” for veterans and their families.  We will meet in the Church Library area on the first Sunday of each month.  Please send an email to info@sw-umc.org or call 281-444-6468, for more information.  Topics of discussion are listed below:

  • What does Combat Trauma/PTSD look like?
  • Military in our midst.
  • What do people in the military need most from our church?
  • Entitlement to VA Benefits—Pension and Compensation
  • VAMC Medical Benefits and Medical Care
  • Defending the military marriage and family
  • Facing your fears and coming home
  • Deployment journal for kids
