Mission and Outreach
Spring Woods shares its faith outside of its walls every day in many ways. Several local and global outreach opportunities are offered throughout the year:
Alcoholics Anonymous: Call 281-444-6468 for meeting times.
Back to School Bash: This annual event at Spring Woods gives our community's children a healthy and happy start to school with school supplies and clothing. Back to School Bash 2008 will take place on Saturday, August 16.
Belize Mission Trip: If you are interested in a week-long experience in another country, join the Belize Mission Team, spreading the good news through Vacation Bible School, medical missions, construction projects, and Bible studies.
Health and Wellness Ministry: Spring Woods will host a free Shot Clinic and Health Fair on August 14, 2008.
Interfaith Hospitality Network: This program, sponsored by Northwest Assistance Ministries, provides shelter and meals for temporarily displaced families. We host the IHN guests on a rotating basis with other area congregations. The families spend evenings and nights in our Outreach House for one week at a time before moving on to the next congregation.
New Military Ministry:
Spring Woods United Methodist Church and Military Ministries is providing support and services to veterans and their families. Military Ministries understands that life is very stressful in today’s military environment. Our prayer is that this church will show a heart of compassion to our nation’s military and become a “Bridge to Healing” for veterans and their families. We will meet in the Church Library area on the first Sunday of each month beginning February 3, 2008. Please send an email to info@sw-umc.org, or call 281-444-6468, for more information. Topics of discussion are listed below:
- What does Combat Trauma/PTSD look like?
- Military in our midst.
- What do people in the military need most from our church?
- Entitlement to VA Benefits—Pension and Compensation
- VAMC Medical Benefits and Medical Care
- Defending the military marriage and family
- Facing your fears and coming home
- Deployment journal for kids
