Preschool/Mother's Day Out
Philosophy and Goals
Spring Woods Weekday Ministries was established in 1978 as a community outreach of Spring Woods United Methodist Church. It is the philosophy of Spring Woods Weekday Ministries to present a developmentally appropriate program set in a Christian atmosphere that meets the individual needs of each child through flexible, planned curriculum. The goal of our supportive staff is to build a positive self-image and a solid foundation for each child, as well as foster their self-worth.
Curriculum is planned with the understanding that each child is unique and is at a different level of development. Experiences are provided to develop an awareness and understanding of many different cultures. We also strive to enhance each child’s self-esteem and to spark a further interest in learning.

Staff
Our teachers are dedicated and caring professionals who enjoy working with children of all ages. We are extremely proud of our teachers and assistant teachers, for they are caring, nurturing people who love children and are well-trained in early childhood education. The staff completes at least 15 hours of early childhood training each year. All staff is trained in CPR and First Aid.

Enrollment
Enrollment is granted without discrimination in regard to sex, race, color, creed or political belief. It is open to any child as long as we can meet the needs of the child. We accept children ages 3 months by September 1st to 5 years. The children are initially assigned to a class according to age.

Daily Activities
We provide opportunities for children to grow socially, emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. Classrooms for children ages 2 through 5 are set up to provide children with learning center experiences. Centers allow children to make choices, interact with each other, interact with teachers, be self-directed and follow their own interests. “Hands-on” activities provide the opportunity for each child to work and grow at his/her own pace. All activities are developmentally appropriate, yet stimulating and challenging.

Schedules are set up to balance active learning and quiet times. Each daily schedule includes center time, snack time, circle time, outdoor play, motor development, free play, music, and cooking.

Snacks/Lunch
Morning snacks are voluntarily provided by the parents in each room. The children will need to bring a small, nutritious lunch from home.
