Greetings,
We want to thank all of our families who donated food items for our annual Thanksgiving Feast. We enjoyed the opportunity to serve your family and have time to visit with our school friends. The little ones (toddlers and twos) enjoyed the feast in their individual classrooms.
December is full of activities in our classrooms. We are “decking the halls” and walls with our wonderful Christmas artwork. Many classes are cooking treats. Our songs are about baby Jesus and Christmas. We are enjoying this Christmas season.
The Christmas celebrations in our classrooms will be a bit quieter this year. We are focusing on celebrating Jesus’ birthday. Instead of parties full of sweets and lots of party favors, we are asking our families to donate toys for our toy drive or a teddy bear for the pediatric center. Each class may choose to have a small gift exchange, but we are not expecting our families to bring a lot of items for the parties.
We want to remind all of our families to pack “healthy” lunches for their children. For more ideas about good nutrition and ideas for healthy alternatives check out www.mypyramid.gov/preschoolers. Some smart, healthy fun snacks or meals include: English muffin pizza, graham cracker sandwiches, deli-style or light ham or turkey, cooked chicken strips (without skin or breading) for dipping, veggie “matchsticks” for dipping, apple slices, string cheese, mini yogurt cups, hummus and pita chips or whole grain crackers. We want to lay the foundation of healthy eating and habits.
You will receive the January supply list for your child and their class. Please make sure to bring the supplies to school on the first day back in January. The supply list will also be available in the office or look for the information on the school bulletin board.
Have a blessed Christmas and a happy New Year.
Cathy Gokey
Director

Our Christmas Holiday will begin December 19th through January 2nd. Our first day back at school in the New Year is Tuesday, January 3rd.
Just a reminder…we follow Spring I.S.D. school calendar. The school will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 16, 2012.
