Scouting Ministries
Scouting is ACTION! Boys and girls from our community thrive in these year-round programs. Many of the children and youth come from the congregation. But a larger number come from the community and neighborhoods around Spring Woods. Come Join the Fun!!!

Girl Scouts of America
Girl Scouting involve girls from kindergarten through high school. Girls explore many journeys as they experience a variety of activities. Many members of our church family lead troops in their neighborhood, extending the influence of our church community.
Cub Scouting
Cub Scouting involves boys from first through fifth grade. Pack 900 serves boys from first through fifth grade. Dens of each age group meet weekly here at the church. The packs meet monthly in the Great Hall. Pack activities and events are family-friendly.
Pack 900 recruits boys from Major and Meyer Elementary Schools in Spring ISD—but welcomes any boy who wishes to join. Zeke Pacheco is the Cubmaster and Marie Rose is the committee chair. Spring Woods has chartered Pack 900 since 1998.
The pack service project this year is Nothing But Nets.
Boy Scouts of America
Troop 900 serves boys from age 11 through 17. These Scouts come from both the Spring and Klein ISD areas. The troop meets every Monday night near the outdoor pavilion and camps monthly. Troop 900 will travel to El Rancho Cima for summer camp this year. The Scoutmaster is Chuck Dyer and Keith Weaver is the committee chair. Spring Woods has chartered Troop 900 since 1963.
The troop helped the community place flags on graves in preparation for the Memorial Day Ceremonies at the Houston National Cemetery. The Scouts also served as an honor guard for the Paralyzed Veterans of America during the ceremonies. Troop 900 will be collecting United States flags that are worn or damaged during 4th of July celebrations in the Westador subdivision.
Shepherd Church
The Shepherd Church Charter annually recognizes churches that provide outstanding Scouting/youth-serving ministries to their communities. Spring Woods continues to be a Shepherd Church.
Members of Spring Woods UMC serve in leadership positions in several Scout units throughout the Spring-Klein area and across the greater Houston community. We also have leaders from the community who serve Scouting here at Spring Woods. Core to this ministry is the congregation’s support of Scouting as a means of serving the children and youth in our community.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers.
